Stalemate: Jake and Sierra's reluctant dalliance (short story PDF)

The story Stalemate - Jake and Sierra’s Reluctant Dalliance - is a stand-alone two-part short story set in a gated community designed to protect against an unseen danger.

I wanted to create an introspective analysis of how two heterosexual people locked into a protected community reacted to one another when sexual tension was obvious.

• How did Sierra, the reluctant female, react to the blatant interest of her male counterpart?
• How did Jake, the interested male, react to her reluctance?

My aim was to write a sexually charged preamble, without actually delving into any sort of carnal resolution. There is no happy ending, no steamy sex, no contact at all.

The PDF consists of 56 pages and just under 5000 words. I chose a larger font than the typical 11 to accommodate for easier reading when this document is opened on a mobile device.
